Edit: Due to the populatiy of these tutorials (who would have guessed?) I've changed the original format of them to a nice, shinier model~! Hope you enjoy the new interface!

Once again, I end up submitting really basic things! Oh, the life of me is going, going, goooone! DX

I've never really thought much about making bows. They're just something that, to me, comes really quickly and easily and it's all of a twenty-minute job. But I was commissioned to make a bow for the back of an Ariel dress, and really, who can resist Disney?

I do hope this helps somewhat! It's a lot easier to work on a smaller scale, though...

I did something very similar to this for my Sasami cosplay, except I made the tails a part of her 'obi'-esque waist wrap so I could tie it on and off.  I had to make the pieces separate and removable(so I could take it on and off), so the gather bit is attached with hook-eye closures.  ^__^

You make them so very pretty!  :la:

What were your lengths for the bows you used, by the way? Like how long your original fabric was? Thank youuu!

Thank you very much!! Although I have a question, I'm making a cosplay of Ellen from The Witch's House and she has a very big bow in her hair. How would I attach it to my wig?

I'd suggest actually putting a clip in the back of the bow or possibly a strip of fabric with velcro, and then hooking the bow into a good tuft of hair. Her hair seems to be pulled back a little too, so perhaps secure it with a hair elastic and hook the bow through there?

Do you think this method would work for Rin Kagamine's ([link]) bow? Thanks!

Sorry about the late reply!

I don't think the shape of this bow would be quite what you'd need. I'd suggest making one panel as a kind of lemon-shape (sort of what half her bow looks like, wider in the middle and tapering off on the ends) and putting plenty of interfacing inside it to make it stick up and stiff. Then gathering it in the middle with the midsection bit, and probably attaching it to a headband.

Does than make sense?

I really love the way you make your tutorials! With the page-by-page style, it's a lot easier to follow than just a bunch of pictures slapped onto one long document, and it removes the temptation to skip ahead. ^^;
Is there any particular tutorial you plan to make next?

Er... not particularly. I kind of make these tutorials as people ask, and I haven't particularly had any requests for anything as of yet, so I'm still milling about...

Thanks for making these VERY easy to follow tutorials. I don't cosplay nor do I even own a sewing machine, but if you slowly grow the collection of tutorials, it will surely be one of those tuts that everyone links to learn. Keep it up <3!

When I made Rozalin's back bow (which is literally almost as big as I am) I just used a really heavy interfacing, and layered it a few times.

But if you're making one as big as, say, a house (lolol, no) I think a thin wire would also work.
